Apex Action Firearms
Eligibility
What every student clears before they step onto the range.
Firearms aren't for everyone to handle on set. Apex Action courses are open to performers, crew, and serious applicants who can clear the same baseline checks any responsible firearms instructor would expect — and who arrive ready to work.
We don't gatekeep by union card or industry membership. What we do require is a clear paper trail confirming you are who you say you are, you live where you say you do, and you have no criminal record that would put a firearm in your hands unsafely or unlawfully.
Pre-course paperwork — required from every student
Section 21 declaration
Signed statement confirming you are not prohibited from possessing firearms under Section 21 of the Firearms Act 1968. We provide the form — you sign and return.
Photo ID

Two proofs of address
Dated within the last 3 months. Acceptable: utility bill, bank statement, council tax bill, HMRC letter. Cannot be two of the same type.

Who the courses are for
- Actors — Spotlight, Equity, agency-represented, drama school graduates, or working professionals
- Stunt performers — BSR members and trainees, or independent performers with a verifiable track record
- Fight performers — BAA, APC, BASSC, BADC trained
- Motion capture performers
- Screen industry crew — props, art, stage management, ADs, directors, writers with a documented production or research need
- Ex-military and ex-law enforcement, considered case-by-case
- Overseas applicants who can demonstrate equivalence and clear the same paperwork
The list isn't exhaustive. If you have a credible reason to be on a live-fire range that doesn't fit cleanly above — current production, professional referral, niche specialism — write to us with a short note explaining your situation. We'll come back with a yes, a no, or a list of what additional documentation would settle it.
How to apply
- Email your paperwork bundle to info@apexactionfirearms.co.uk, together with a short note on which course you're applying for and which audience category fits you best.
- We confirm or come back with questions, typically within five working days.
- On approval, you receive booking confirmation, payment details, and the range location.
- Show up, work hard, earn the credential.
Sending sensitive documents by plain email isn't ideal. We recommend sending them as a password-protected ZIP and providing the password in a separate channel (phone or text).
A note on discretion
Apex Action reserves the right to decline any application where the documentation, declared circumstances, or any aspect of the application raises a reasonable safety concern. The range is the final arbiter — admission is at our discretion and isn't conferred by paperwork alone.
